BUTTERWICK BOARDING KENNELS & CATTERY

Family

It’s only fair that if we know a little about you & your best friend then you know a little about us. So here’s our clan

Our black cat was the first addition to our family, a rescue cat from the RSPCA at Great Ayton, he now considers himself quite the conissieur when it comes to the local wildlife. He may look tough but he’s a real softy cuddles are his speciality.

Our chocolate Labrador came second (after Mark threatened to call off the wedding if Francesca didn’t agree to a dog but how could you resist Sema!!). She’s one of the main reasons we are as dog mad as we are. Human?? I think she’s as close as a dog can get, but it hasn’t been plain sailing with Sema as she was soon diagnosed as having severe hip dysplasia, which is why we tried to help her as much as we can. We even installed a hydrotherapy centre so she can benefit from the right exercise – a little excessive I know but we wouldn’t be without her. With a change of food to Arden Grange she now doesn’t need medication and she’s still convinced she’s a pup. She really touched our hearts & everyone she meets.

Is our black Labrador. Not the biggest Labrador in the world but definitely one of the biggest hearts. We hope to keep some of his offspring in years to come. His field trial ancestry is wonderful so his love of fetch is amazing, although maybe needs a bit of refining for the purists. His greatest love besides retrieve has got to be swimming so much so that we struggle to get him out of the water. If there was a competition for doggy diving he’d clean the board (ok were a little biased). One things for sure he’s a real mummy’s boy.

Our Newfoundland is just a huge teddy bear, loving, funny, full of slobber and her chewbacca impression has to be seen to be believed. She sometimes forgets her size which means we’ve got to be quick at getting things out of her path/wake. She’s also got a great pedigree but that not why we love her, she has an uncanny knack of bringing a smile to anyones face. As with all Newfie’s she seems to attract every twig and debris with her lovely coat, luckily for us she loves to be groomed and fussed. She’s a real mud magnet. We don’t play favourites in this house but having just qualified for Crufts 2006 we are a truly proud parents.

Francesca took some convincing that we should get a GSD but mark won through in the end and I don’t think we would be without her. She is Maddy’s shadow as the youngest of all our dogs, but between them they really know how to get into some mischief. She’s been called Radar on odd occasions as we think she’s got to grow into those ears yet. One of her favourite tricks is to try and see over the gate but she’s still a little small to achieve this so all you get is a pair of ears. Priceless. Dad is definitely Holly’s favourite and loves helping him with jobs here and there. She’s currently in training so is kept on her toes.

Bailey

Now one year old and doesn’t time fly!! She is still a character and just loves having the company of Nina and Faye to keep up the mischief. The chewing has now stopped and she is about to take her kennels club good citizen bronze award but that doesn’t mean the lunatic puppiness is going away!! We will keep you posted on her progress and any litter she may have in the future in our new section breeding and puppies.

Nina

Our extremely talented superstar Nina. She is just 7 months old and had already got her kennel club good citizen bronze award!! She is destined for big things in the obedience world. She is a real monkey woofing and chasing anything that moves. oh and she just loves her dad!!

She is under our kennel name of INTEGRITAS GERMAN SHEPHERDS . A name that is associated with training and obedience.

Faye

Faye is the most recent addition to the clan. She came to us at just over 1 year old, and is from an excellent line of field trial champions. She enjoys carrying things especially shoes and she joins in the frolicking with Bailey and Nina as if she has never lived anywhere else!! She is learning a few manners as she was from a working home and needs to settle in a new pack but she is so loving and she is a real friend to everyone.

Ronnie and Roxy

Ronnie and Roxy

These 2 adorable girls came to us a rescue cats for the RSPCA and were semi feral kittens found at Hartlepool marina. At first we could not touch them, or even approach them without hissing and biting but once they settled in to their new home in our stables they became a different kettle of fish( pardon the pun). They now spend all their time following us about and mewing above the kennels kitchen for more food!! They keep all our mice in hand and take an avid interest in our chickens and allotment.
